Mike, No "all or none", or "change order" with Datek yet -- Customer service is ok but they won't hold your hand if that's what you need, they do have a live broker but it may take a few minutes to get thru

Trade confirmations are instant, account balances are updated instantly and you can trade odd lots.

Datek was up and running during the 2 day crash in october last year -- you might want to have 2 or 3 ISP and play around with them to see which gives the fastest internet access -- I use MCI most but this past week concentric has been alot faster overall

Additional Questions for Anyone

Hello Mike,

I am sorry I cannot answer any of your questions, however this looked like a good place to piggyback some of my own.

Would someone please post a list of the servers? I have also seen several references to using certain software on certain servers...please explain.

What record keeping does Datek provide? Is it accurate? Is it sufficient for IRS purposes? If not, what are most of you using?

I have read ~10% of the Datek posts so far. I see that features like AON and resubmit/cancel that were addressed to Peter in 1996, when he wasn't a Datek employee, still appear to be unaddressed in 1998 when he is CTO. I also see that Email apparently goes unanswered. HOW do you communicate in a timely fashion with Datek when you MUST??

I currently have an unfunded account which is waiting for credit of mailed check, is there a "test account" I can use to check out account features without actually executing any real trades?

If you can't get checks after waiting so long, how hard/easy is it to withdraw funds without checks? How do you do it? How successful? How fast is the turn-around?

I would also be interested in how Datek calculates margin maintenance excess requirements on concentrated positions (fully positioned in one stock).

Thanks to all responders
