Peter, OFF TOPIC Thank you for your kind comments. I realize that your ideas are well intentioned. But each threadster, lurker & peeper has his own idea on how the posters should improve themselves in such a way as to satisfy the readers. But, human nature being what it is, the posters are not as much interested in the readers as the readers might prefer. The posters post for their own reasons, which might vary with each post. Obviously, characteristics such as civility, integrity & others are preferable to their opposites. But no poster can meet the demands of all the readers, because the readers aren't perfect either. Their demands & the content of their posts demanding or requesting change in the poster's behavior frequently leave much to be desired.
All of us have some variation of the variety of afflictions that befall mankind. To expect that we be greater than the rest of mankind is to expect a lot collectively. It's difficult for the mass of us on the thread to be significantly different from the norm for such a mass. Therefore, IMO, to expect the posters to conform to the readers' standards, which vary as enormously as would be imagined from such a large & diverse group, is to wish for what cannot reasonably be expected.
I realize that there are other opinions on this matter, but I do not expect this entire mass to deviate significantly from the expected values for it. Would that we were all more perfect? Yes. Will we be? Don't bet on it.
Lastly, although I can't really speak for the other posters, I post for the personal enjoyment I get from doing it. I, literally, don't really know what words are going to pop out before they do. And, I am sure I laugh harder at some of the stuff that pops out than the readers do. That's the fun of it. The challenge to impress oneself.
