Nanometrics Appoints New Chief Executive Officer SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 20, 1998--Nanometrics Inc. (NASDAQ:NANO) announced today that Vincent Coates, founder of the company and its chief executive officer since 1975, has today relinquished that position while remaining as chairman of the board of directors. John D. Heaton, president and COO since 1995, has been appointed president and chief executive officer of the company.
