Gary, Rydex is a family of mutual funds like Fidelity. The RYPMX is just one of their funds, precious metals. You can only buy or sell at the NAV (price) at the close of trading 16:00 EST. << 2) Why wouldn't you buy calls on the XAU instead of RYDEX >> Not a bad idea. I assume there are XAU options? One would need to compare commissions and risk for the money invested. Options expire, funds don't. IMO the funds are more conservative, I never need to take a loss if I'm willing to wait (that assumes that gold will always come back if I bet wrong <VBG>). I also short the market at times through the Ursa fund, the only way I can short the market in an IRA. Sometimes trades in a fund family are just a simple exchange Nova/Usra :

Yes to the Visual Investor question. Terrific book, altho' Murphy doesn't "do" CNBC anymore and hasn't for several months.

You can do a Yahoo search for murphymorris and find his website and subscription data.
