I too heard those comments on the social security program - they occurred towards the end of the program today. Nothing in your post changes the fact that 100% taxation of social security benefits would be tantamount to a back door reduction in benefits - this would be totally mean spirited and unfair in my opinion. I only hope Richard Gemphart and Ted Kennedy don't monitor this forum. I believe that Alicia Munnel would have applauded Brinker's comments. If you remember, she was considered early in the Clinton's administration for appointment to the FED and was then the object of Brinker's rath for her belief that the Government is entitled to tax everything that moves, including currently nontaxable funds currently held inside pension funds.
