There's a mini-discussion taking place on George Gilder's SI thread about software delivery on the Internet with comments on TSQD: exchange2000.com Gilder publishes a newsletter entitled "Gilder Technology Report" which contains his opinions monthly on high tech issues involving the futuristic "telecosm". Topics include bandwidth, Internet matters, software (he's partial to Java), and many others. He also includes and updates a list of "ascendant technologies", i.e., a list of his stock picks. The list includes @Home, Globalstar, Lucent, Qualcomm, Qwest, Sun Microsystems, Tellabs, and WorldCom. He likes the idea of software downloads from the Internet. This is the basis for his frequent criticisms of Microsoft, and his embrace of Sun Microsystems. It will be interesting to see if he picks up on Digital River as a source of anti-Microsoft technology. It would mean a huge boost for TSQD if it happened. Just wishing out loud...
