Serious question here:

Since I am still a young investor I have yet to see a company that I have invested in go out of business. What exactly happens? Does the stock just hit 0.00 and disappear or are there other penalties involved. Does it pay to sell the stock even though the commissions will be more expensive than the stock value at some point? Or do I just let it disappear and take the tax deduction next year?
