HiFd at retail

Well Rocky, that's an intelligent marketing plan. Let's offer a high capacity floppy that costs more than zip and has an additional feature that my computer already has and that I don't need. And lets sell the disks for the same or more money.

With that kind of plan they should sell 15 mil in a couple of quarters and then they'll be able to offer compatibility. Yeah, I see what you mean about IOM having something to worry about.

And on top of that, there will be all those box makers who can't wait to promote the new Sony standard. Should be a real blood bath when all of IOM's OEM partners jump ship at the same time. Sony has made such a huge name for itself in the PC market, who could resist. Get on board with Sony or be crushed.

I guess someone at Sony forgot to make that plain to the European box makers.

That's the trouble with this business. You spend years building up recognition, branding, manufacturing, distribution, and acceptance in the market place only to have it suddenly made irrelevant by the appearance of the next wannabe.

Guess I'll sell all my IOM tomorrow.
