I have e-schwab but I stopped using them because many times I buy more than 1000 shares and then their commission became significant.

But I did notice on a couple of occassions that I got shares at the bid immediately and wondered if they were matching orders in their computer and making the trades directly between their clients. Never did find the answer out.

I might start using Cybertrader with level II screen where you know exactly the marketmaker you are dealing with. Their commisssions are $25 per trade. There is a charge of $300 for the level II screen but that is waived if you do 10 transactions per day, essentially paying them $250 or more commission per day or more than $5000 per month.

John, I was using E*trade until Fidelity started their online trading.
It's $14.95 up to 1000 shares (for a frequent trader), and no 20 minute wait when you want to speak to someone.
