...Microsoft is the dominant supplier of office suite software, with about 90% of the market, according to research firm Dataquest in San Jose, Calif. Although competitors Lotus Development and Corel have included speech recognition in their software suites, Microsoft says it will not incorporate the technology into its suite. "If a tool goes into Office, it has to be ready for prime time," says Matthew Price, group product manager for Microsoft Office. "Speech recognition is more of a fascination than a core business tool. We're experimenting with it, but the accuracy rates are just not there yet."
