Brian - Replying to your Celeron Article on the Intel Thread -

As noted in that article, I see why you are so worried. Both Compaq and IBM, the two real OEM's for the K6, DID ANNOUNCE support for the Celeron.

{=====================}
techweb.com

Only seven manufacturers-Compaq, Dell, IBM, Pionex, Packard Bell, NEC
and Hewlett-Packard-turned up at Intel's introduction of the Celeron family
last week to demonstrate business and consumer systems, and many of their
booths were manned by Intel representatives.

{=====================}

I guess you are worried because Intel's crippled Celeron will be taking away business from AMD.

Doesn't say much for AMD's upside, does it?

I hear Mendocino, Intel's Celeron with on-chip L2 cache is way ahead of the K6+3D - AMD's version with on-board L2 cache.

That's another reason to be worried, Brian, eh?
