IOM is still an evolving company. I cannot say if it is a guaranteed growing company. I can say, though, that it has a tremendous potential for growth. The stock price fluctuations do indicate the uncertainty about the growth of the company, IMHO.

<<<What is critical (IMO) to stay invested in IOM is that their products have a market; they continue to innovate, and that they understand (NOW) the need to keep the cost in line with potentially fluctuating revenue to show profits.

They were in a phase of tremendous growth in revenue and so the cost was not an issue. After the recent jolt, they fired the CEO because he was accustomed to only unidirectional revenue growth, IMO. They now need a new CEO who understands how to manage a company with a great potential for growth, but not with a guaranteed uptrend in revenues. This is JMO.

Very good analysis, IMO you are 100% correct.

Where did the extra inventory come from?

Inventory increased from $246 mm to $313mm
the breakdown from the conference call was
12/97 3/98
Raw Material 130 186
Wip 19 20
Finished goods 98 107
Total 247 313

So the question is...where did the RM and FG come from?

I think that the extra material (probably ordered at a premium) is for zip plus.

Comments from CC also said that Scott Flagg the COO had put $50mm in to the inventory management program. I didn't quite understand the answer. There was a question how much of the inventory increase was from zip, and the answer was unclear, but I thought it was the $50mm. Kinda confused on this issue.

My guess from s.bateh's posts of 6,000+ zip plus shipped in 2 days points to the poor sales (relative) of the zip plus compared to the atapi drives.

my guess is that a large part of the inventory increase is in the zip plus product line.
