The cable companies are moving quickly to solidify their astonishing lead in the digital multimedia services arena and I noticed that SFA is on the leading edge of this phenomena with two-way cable systems. They have recently bagged some golden accounts and the existing list of customers reads like the who's who of the cable industry and this should be a stellar year for SFA. What's piqued my interest is the decision to use Sun's Personal Java along with myriad other industry standards. This is going to result in rapid product development and product acceptance of interactive digital services such as video on demand, personalized "radio" and online retailing. The company isn't being shy about the prospects for this quarter and the next: save the impact of the Asian Economic Flu, they have painted a very rosy picture indeed. I'm was looking for a digital T.V. slash cable modem investment but BRCM was too expensive and ATHM will not show a profit for several quarters. SFA is really starting to look attractive having pulled back substantially from its highs.
