sorry about all the posts...

It is hard for me to believe how major corporations along with
our federal government can slap the general public up side the head so
hard and make the people happy they got hit! Of course the "big three"
do not endorse anything except R134a. They won't make any money if
you use something else.
I have some questions every one in the a/c field should consider.

1). How is it that now that R134a has some competition that
retrofitting R12 systems to R134a is all of a sudden such a simple
deal? At first, word was that nearly your entire system had to be
replaced or mass destruction would take place. Now they say all you
have to do is slap on some fittings, oil, a few orings if you get
around to it, oh and of course in some cases you might want to add
some additional parts is some special cases. What has changed? They
wanted you to pay big bucks at the service center, or, even better,
just buy a new car.
2)What was the price of R134a two years ago when there was not any
competition? What is the price today? About 10% of what it was two
years ago. Seems to me somebody was making some HUGE margins at the
publics expence for a couple of years. Does this sound like companies
you really want to do business with?
3) If R134a is so wonderful why doesn't our military retrofit to it?
They are using FRIGC.
I have been using FRIGC since last August and have had fabulous
results with it. It is a chemical that was designed for R12 systems.
I work on HD/off road equipment that sees operating temps in excess
of 160 degrees on a 70 degree day. Operating component temps of
ambient + 100 degrees are considered normal. I chose to keep my
customers happy, not just getting by.
