I suspect that the need for a landline internet connection is a big part of the problems that DirectPC faces.

Here's why. You still face the costs of a second phone line (and convential modem) with direct PC. Also, in areas where there is no local toll less ISP, those costs are not avoided. And it does nothing for mobile laptop uses, etc.

A directPC connection that uses an antenna no bigger than a G* handset antenna (say sticking out of a Card Slot on a mobile PC) could I think be pretty big. All sorts of mobile users. All sorts of rural areas. Etc.

Does anyone have access to a launch schedule? The closest I've been able to come to identifying the next one is April '98.
