Business Summary

UTI Energy Corp. provides contract drilling services concentrated in the oil and natural gas producing basins of Oklahoma,
Texas and the Gulf Coast. The Company also provides pressure pumping services. For the fiscal year ended 12/97, revenues
rose 87% to $182.4 million. Net income rose from $4.9 million to $12.5 million. Results reflect higher demand for drilling
services and growth in rig fleet. Earnings also reflect increased gross profit due to higher prices and consolidated savings.

I'm glad to hear UTI's reporting date is earlier. If true, the accelerated date may indicate UTI is getting its internal accounting processes in order for timely management and, hopefully, increased profit margins. A reasonably good showing during this past mild winter should pave the way for a fantastic, non-"El Nino" year.

Ready to climb the peak once the "financials" catch on to what's happening? Pokey, aren't they?
