Worswick and all;

Man, I go to Phuket for a couple of days of R&R and you guys abandon the thread.... What's up with this?? :-)

Only took a half hour to get caught up on a week's worth of posts.

Anyhoooooo, You may now want to start watching SDarby. This afternoon @ 2:45 (KL time) its at 3.50 Rm. As I recall yesterday's exchange rate was approaching 4. That makes good ole' SD worth about .875 or not a bad buy at the moment.

I know, I know, I said AFTER is went to 3.20 and then back to 3.40, but the exchange rate makes it a little different. The whole market is down again, don't know how many days in a row- but it is still on light volume. So, maybe we've hit a bottom??

Don't depend on me to time the market though, I can tell you for sure that my timing sucks! Got roasted on PBB last week. Next week it will go up for sure. ;-)))

Thailand is still a great place to unwind. Observations in a resort area don't mean all that much so take it for what its worth. Lots of tourists there, locals say the volume is high-season (its now low-season because of the heat) and everyone is spending money. So what's new? Really high-end hotels are not fully booked, tours are way down, everyone is going on their own pace, bar business is off slightly. Funny though, all the 'girls' are still there and they usually move on in slow seasons to Singapore, Bali and Bankok and Causamui <sp>?.

Boat tours are full, dive classes are at record levels. One of the managers of the hottest Go Go bar in Patong says she is looking to expand into other areas of Thailand. Not with the same concept but still the bar business. Now is the time to invest she claims. BTW she and her two partners are from NYC and have been in Patong for 10 years and claims this is the best opportunity they've seen.

Again take it for what its worth. ;-) Basically a couple of Johnie Blacks.%>)

Regards to all
bt

Worswick,

The golden triangle/Burmese opium and heroin trade probably won't change for some time to come. I found it interesting that the region is expanding into methamphetamines and designer drugs like "ecstacy" which continues to be a problem even here in Malaysia. I suspect as long as we have a military junta in Burma running things we will not see much decline in that activity.

Best,
Stitch
