In the April 7th issue of PC Magazine Dvorak devoted his entire column to the theory of why Intel and Compaq would merge. This wasn't a joke, this was his opinion.

Why would I want that? Last time I checked the fasting growing most profitable PC company in the world was Dell which not so coincidentally sells Intel CPU boxes only and has refrained from selling Segment 0 PC's.

Trouble? Again you seemed very confused. The vast majority of sub1000 PC's are based on Intel processors.
