so basically you just said you did'nt even inquire about an amd setup yet you can draw conclusions about pricing???how the heck does that make any sence?

I bought one of those cheap Cyrix (before MMX) P166 chips too and had a few compatibility problems. I've learned my lesson about Cyrix.

AMD's chip has had a good compatibility history. The big problem for AMD is they have big problems making the chips - the yields are very low. That's not too good in a commodity business.
