Try this one

//Richard Estes' Breakout Scan 9/16/96

Exchange=NYSE,NASDAQ,AMEX
Max(-3,-25,Hi) > 1.2*Min(-3,-25,lo) // 3 days ago Months highest high/Months lowest low GT 1.2
High(0)>Max(-1,-21,Hi) // Todays high GT Months highest high
Close(0)<30 // Today's Close LT $30
Close(0)>MovAvg(0,34,Cl) // Today's Close GT 34day simple Mov avg
Vol(0)>AvgVol(-1,-180) // Today's Vol GT 9 mo avg vol

// end of scan

Watch out for line-wrapped comments, as usual.

I think the original also had the sense of the inequality
reversed. I posted a question to that effect but got no
responses. The original post didn't make sense to me,
but being a TA infant, WDIK?

However, regardless of the sense of the inequality, this
avoids the zero divide problem.

Regards,

Spots

FRED,
For any scan involving a division, I include a conditional statement in front of the formula, specifically excluding the denominator being equal to zero. I don't have QP yet, so don't know what the statement would be, but the general format I use is:
IFF(DENOMINATOR<>0,FORMULA,1)...
There are other ways to get past the "divide by zero " issue, but the conditional statement,is the most legal:0)solution. regards, Mark.

Fred,
Add a nominal value to the denominator to beat the problem without distorting the results.

(Max(-4,-25,hi)/(0.01+Min(-4,-25,lo)))<1.2 works for me.

HI Fred,

Not sure what version of the BBB scan your running but here is the original.
It ran flawlessly for me when I used R1.

// QP translation of Richard's Buy Buy Buy
AllGroup
Close(0) > Min(-1,-5,cl) *1.05 // todays close at least %5 higher than lowest close in last 5 days
Close(0) <= 30 // price < $30
AvgVol(0,-130)>500 // avg daily vol last 180 da > 50,000
Close(0) > Max(-1,-260,cl) *0.85 //today's close not lower than 15% of 52 wk high
Vol(0) >= AvgVol(0,-75) // todays vol > 3mo moving avg of vol
vol(0) >=500 // todays vol>50,000
HasOptions = TRUE // optionable
