On a related note, it will be interesting to see if the mutuals will nip at BRCM now with the IPO run-up. An argument can be made about the valuation of the stock and has been so expressed in this thread since Friday evening. So it makes me wonder if the mutuals will give it a look at all now. Any stock, forgetting BRCM for the moment, needs the institution's support for good, long term returns.

Wonder how long it will take Morgan Stanley/Dean Witter to come out with it's first "rating" of the stock? Usually the underwriter will wait for a couple of months after the IPO and make it's first comments.

The idea of cable being the main internet feeder isn't anything new. Bill Gates has already shown us this as he usually puts his money where he thinks the future is. His major investments in the cable industry give a clear idea of what he's thinking. A company who has a hand in the modems that get the cable connections to the computer is likely to have a future in it.
