Bobby, walking the dog over the last week, I've managed to spook up seven deer, three ducks, and a ring-necked pheasant. No bears yet, but I'll keep you posted.

Remember the big roil over Kathy Lee's shoe factory in Honduras where women were not allowed breaks to go use the facilities? When that factory closed in the aftermath of the scandal, those women had to take up even worse employment--there just isn't much there for them in the third world. I spent six weeks up in the mountains in Panajachel filling in for a teacher on leave and the director of the school told me that he was paying a worker a third more for a day's renovation work than was the local area norm, because he felt bad about giving such niggardly wages. His neighbors were ticked at him for driving up wage costs. That "third more" meant a total of 20 Quetzales in local currency for a day's work. That's about $3 a day in US terms. You can see why our companies slunk out to the third world for labor. --Alan
