The beauty of CD-R and CD-RW is the cost of the media.
Unfortunately, the drives cost way too much for the average
consumer. They aren't in the same market as Zip, Jaz, or
even SparQ. Remember that 600KB/sec writing speed for a 4x
drive? Or how about the fact that the drive will want most
of your CPU cycles during writing?

While CD-R is nice for people who need it, the Zip is fine
for those who only need to transport files in the 10-20 MB
range.

Rocky:

Thanks. I had been thinking of buying a CD-RW drive for a long time. What are the problems in using them as compared to ZIP drives? TIA
