If you are confident that Japan still has a way to go on the downside, Japan WEBS (World Equity Benchmark Securities) symbol ERJ, traded on the Amex can be shorted (without an uptick, I might add). I have been trying to make up my mind about this play for about a week, but lack that confidence, myself.

Paul, I wouldn't be interested in the Nikkei, but only as it relates to gold and I consider this heavy amount of bearishness after an 8 year slide a sign of bottoming. The massive triple bottom on the chart confirms the sentiment.

1937 was a very bad year where the market lost almost half it's value and had extreme bearishness after 7 years of depression and that was the final major bottom.

And coincidently -ggg- that's when Dorothy started telling us "Follow the Yellow Brick Road"
