George, and others: Great discussions this week-end.

I was unable to read the week-end's messages until just now. Wow, some wonderful discussion. Social-security, government-intrusion, etc. I love this stuff. Great posts, Alan W!
Oh, and Bob Brinker too!
When I have some free time, I'll comment in more detail.

Just proves again what a great bunch of minds frequent this thread!

Regards, Bill S

GeorgeW: RE:< In my ideal (and impossible) world, there would be NO government involvement with pension funds>

Well, now you're really talking about something wonderful.

- 401K plans where employees reap the benefits of their investment choices, instead of pension plans where companies reap the benefits in the form of reduced pension plan funding requirements from the investment choices made by company hired investment managers.

- Social Security Taxes placed in IRA like accounts were taxpayers reap the benefits of their own investment choices.

The above combined with existing plans for the self-employed and ROTH-IRA Accounts.

WOW. Hope this all comes true :-)
