Roy, Since they(Apple) sells the OS over the counter, what is to stop a clone maker from writing a BIOS and then buying the OS? I suspect the Firmware is far more complex than an IBM, however with todays larger ROMS it would seem to be doable if one out their mind to it.?
That is what happaned with the first clones. They just bought DOS from Gates and a new BIOS and the rest is history.
