Company Annoncement : Turbodyne Testing Turbopac in France

TURBODYNE TESTING TURBOPAC IN FRANCE

Woodland Hills, Ca. - April 20, 1998 -- Turbodyne Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: TRBDF, EASDAQ: TRBD) announced today its Turbopac~ units have been installed for evaluation on representative public transit buses in Paris, France. Initial tests resulted in substantial emissions reductions, similar to those achieved on urban buses in the United States, Brazil and Mexico. With 4,000 buses in service, the RATP (R‚gie Autonome des Transports Parisiens) is the largest public transportation company in Europe.

"For the first time in history, Paris was literally "shut down" to any vehicle movement last October due to excessive pollution, and the RATP has been under enormous public pressure to solve the pollution problem with its buses," said Alain Lombard, director of Turbodyne France. "Since Dominique Voynet was appointed environmental minister of France last year, vehicle pollution has become a key priority for the government. "

"In fact, the French government recently passed a regulation that "clean" vehicles be tagged with a "green sticker", or "Pastille Verte". Now, during peak pollution periods, only vehicles equipped with the "Pastille Verte" will be allowed on the roads," Lombard concluded.

"Our program with the RATP presents tremendous opportunity to Turbodyne because the bus system is managed at the national level," said Walter Ware, President and CEO. "A successful demonstration over the next few months will establish the precedent for a nationwide program."

"Fuel costs about three times more in France than it does in the U.S.," Ware said. "By getting similar reductions in fuel consumption that have been achieved in the U.S., Brazil and Mexico, the financial payback of using the Turbopac~ will be three times greater."

France is Europe's largest producer and user of diesel engines for transportation. There are almost 30 million vehicles in France, including 11 million diesel cars, three million diesel trucks and half a million diesel buses. In 1997, more than 40 percent of the total vehicles sold in France were equipped with diesel engines.

Turbodyne Systems, the high technology division of Turbodyne, manufactures, designs, markets and develops patented pollution- reduction, fuel economy and performance enhancing technology for internal combustion engines in the automotive, transportation, construction, marine, agriculture, mining, military and power generation industries. Offices and plants are located in Carpinteria, La Mirada, Encinitas and Woodland Hills, CA; Ensenada and Mexico City, Mexico; Northants, England; Frankfurt, Germany; Vancouver, Canada; and Paris, France.
