Stephen,

I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I believe there's ALWAYS a comparable "no-load" fund available in comparison to an outstanding "load" fund. There are exceptions, but they are few and far between. I invested with PBHG for two years and, too, was disappointed in returns on down days. The volatility/return risk was beyond what even I could stomach.
