I meant the comparison only to relate to the mud-slinging going on right now.

Tom said a little while back that he learned about how distracted a firm can get from its goals by engaging in mud-slinging and that was something he was going to avoid at Siebel Systems. Well Tom, it took you all of a few months to forget about that one.

Steven,

>>I completely agree with Clam's assessment in his last post except for the ORCL/IFMX comment.

I took this to mean the 95-97 timeframe when Phil decided to go toe-to-toe with Larry Ellison. Big mistake. He should have kept quiet.

>>The good news is that it ain't a zero sum game. Both can win. Wouldn't you be completely happy if VNTV does what IFMX did at its peak - market cap of around $3 billion, revenue of around $900 MM? That would mean a VNTV price of around 120, give or take.

You bet. BTW, IFMX never did $900MM in revenue. But that's a nit.

I'm also wondering whether John L is upset enough with Tom S to put aside his conservative backlog approach and just decide to blow the numbers out for the Q1 98 qtr. Next week will be very interesting.

Cheers.
