Taiwan and China may have to lift all semiconductor chip tariffs.......
techweb.com

<<Taiwan's 18-month-long struggle to join the World
Semiconductor Council has paid off. The organization
voted Thursday to let the country join the organization.
There's one catch: Taiwan must eliminate all
semiconductor tariffs.

The issue of Taiwan joining the group has been highly
political, since China, which regards Taiwan as a
renegade province, wanted to join the semiconductor
group at the same time Taiwan was accepted as a
member.

But the council last week voted for a two-stage
admission -- Taiwan immediately and China when it
lifts all its chip tariffs.>>
