Mike: On the contrary, this news reveals that the company is moving forward toward the IPO. It reveals that the management adjustments have been made and this clears the air for many who were wondering just who would be heading up the new company. As Frank Peters mentioned at the AGM, this selection came from outside of the company. I suspect that Raleigh and others are now hard at work researching the credentials of this man. He seems to have his finger on the pulse already, stressing the vertical integration of FTEL and FNET, and the tremendous opportunity afforded by WCOM's sites.

Do we own some part of the new independent company? YES
If so, how is that? remeber at this point in time i believe Franklin owns aprox. 68% of FNet
If not, have we just seen a part of our FTEL corporate holdings
diminished by the spin off?
I believe not at this time. But keep in mind that any announcements in the future will not say "Fnet a subsidiary of Franklin" I will be curious to see if Franklin as a company will be able to pull as much juice off of future announcements. The real positive side is what Martin eluded to. All FNet orders are no longer tracked as in house transfers. They will all be booked sales. You do the math 5 years 500 cities how many DVGs will that contract be for and for how much. hmmmmm and we still own 68% of the other.
