As far as I understand, Short squeeze can only happen due to two reasons: 1) too many people who are long want to sell the stock, so the shares get called back; 2) the stock price go through the roof, the shorts get a margin call. Judging from the present situation in KTEL, the first is not happening because people who are long in this stock seems still bullish; so the second might happen to some people who short this stock on margin. But for people who short this stock on cash and short price is around $25, they will be ok until this stock goes to over $55. In that case, they will possibly get a margin call, depending on who is you broker. Datek can let you go as low as 30% of your portfolio. And who knows what will happen by then.
