Computer Crashes on Bill Gates

CHICAGO (AP) - Microsoft chairman Bill Gates' world crashed down around him today: just as he was debuting the new Windows 98 operating system at the opening of the Comdex Spring Computer Show, the computer Gates was operating at crashed. The system collapsed when a Microsoft employee attempted to plug in a scanner, with his boss standing alongside. Gates was forced to move to another computer to complete his demonstration. ''That must be why we're not shipping Windows 98 yet,'' he said. Meanwhile, a U.S. appeals court will hear arguments tomorrow in the Justice Department's antitrust case against Microsoft.
