<< The Denver-based Baby Bell said it will begin offering a package of video and data services via "variable digital subscriber lines," or VDSL, in Phoenix this summer, the Journal said."

the "V" is for "Very-high-bit-rate", not "variable". here's info on one vendor's offerings: orckit.com

Steve,

I am the only other person that does not have Vogels report. I pick up pieces of it on this thread and am much appreciative. Thanks.....

Was also wondering what Ric D. has to say regarding the recent drop.

Pam

Steve -

Just an addition to my other post on Wireless/ADSL.

Noone ever said that WCII was going to have a monopoly on distribution of advanced services. These new services will enlarge the market by themselves. Who knows what the market dynamics of large scale vidoe-on-demand will bring.

The ones who should really be worrying about the effect on revenues should be the networks and TV stations. They may suffer a ratings decline as customers can watch any movie they like at any time of the day or night and all of this viewed on high quality "home cinema" systems. I suupose eventually that customers may tire of wall to wall movies. Maybe but that assumes these movies remain the same as they have been. But they may change the presentation to the increased technology that becomes available for home cinema!!!

JUst some thoughts on a small asppect of LMDS.
