I thought the source code was released for everyone to use it commercially with the condition
that the modified code has to be made available to NSCP. Why in the world would anyone bother
to spend their time to improve a company's code if they can not use it commercially?

I didn't say that. What I said was that if they incorporated the code within another product, then they would have to include the full source. However, they can write software and keep the source code proprietary if they do one of the following:

1. Release it as a plug-in.
2. Write the code as accessing the browser in the form of OCX controls. This method would require them to release any source code
that they add to the browser itself to access it as an OCX control, but not the code that calls into the controls.

I am sure MSFT can include the code if it is publicly availalbe
What makes you sure of this? There is a license which contains restrictions on its use. Read it before you say that you are sure.

Some of the most talented coders in the world are working on this stuff. They may not be the best business people in the world, but they've got fewer bugs, more satisfied customers, better response times, and better (not to mention cheaper) support than any other game in town. NSCP did the right thing. If you doubt it, that's fine - check back with me in 18 months and we'll see if it's a good move.

I am sure MSFT can include the code if it is publicly availalbe.

Read section 3 of the license agreement and let me know if you think they'd really be that stupid.
