UTEK shares are certainly putting on a show given the obvious fact that the near term earnings outlook for such companies is just plain unimpressive. On the other hand, if you are short four million shares of a stock like UTEK you probably get tired of seeing the stock go from 19 to 20 to 21 to 22 to 23 without any serious sellers showing up week after week after week. So if there is no major selling pressure on UTEK shares and you are very heavily short the stock, you may as well start covering your assets before investors later on decide to bid UTEK up on sharply improved prospects starting next year. Shares are now up 25% since January 1st and are really acting very nicely, unless, of course, you are short! Could earnings improve as early as the 2nd quarter? Now there is a really scary thought for the shorts to mull over!
