<In one of your posts, you said pacemakers were affected. Do you still believe that? > Here is what I said (excerpt from Medical Device Report):Known medical devices with Y2K Problems, which may fail (Partial List) - Anesthesia monitors - Fetal monitors - MRI machine - Infusion pumps in intravenous drips - Heart defibrillators - Pacemakers* - Intensive care monitors - CT scans - Dialysis, chemotherapy and radiation equipment - Laboratory, radiology and other diagnostic systemsALL devices must be individually tested. The SAME brand, batch /date, model can have differences in the Y2K compliancy of the individual units. Documented failures have already been observed in those devices tested and mentioned above.*PACEMAKERS: Many pacemakers use an embedded computer chip to collect and store information about the patient's heart. The cardiologist employs a diagnostic laboratory equipment to capture and analyze this stored information. Most of this laboratory equipment is computer based and is, therefore, susceptible to the Year 2000 Problem. This means that medical decisions could possibly be based on incorrect or faulty data. There are probably no life-threatening factors involving the implanted pacemakers themselves. ______________________________________________________________________ This is from the generic intro of my report. Specific devices and specific manufacturers are in other sections. But, it answers your question. I have a qualifier in my report that "if any information is in error, to please contact me". No one has thusfar. Though I have been contacted regarding additional failures. I have two reports. One goes to laypeople (11 pages) the other to healthcare professionals (60+ pages). I don't care whether you believe me or not. It's the healthcare professionals that I care about.Get a copy of my report ... and then tell me where you think its flawed. I'll get some of the doctors and engineers to respond back to you. The purpose of my report was to create awareness for healthcare management. Because, unfortunately, there have also been hospital CEO's who have had the same mindset as you. Cheryl
