Jozef,

this thread is famous for its off topic stuff. It started with a number of us who have been on this thread for a while and may even consider each other cyberfriends.

In your case, I am afraid that educating Jozef is neither my interest nor high on my "to do" list. How about if we just drop it. By the way, I do beat my wife everyday but don't bother inviting me to your BBQ.

Ramsey

>> The war was started by unelected emperor. ...

Actually, WWII was started by an elected madman who thought it would
be a good idea to invade Poland. Any John Cleese/Mel Brooks fan knows that!

Tojo and his militarist council thought it would be a good idea
instigate a quick war and swipe European oil, wood and rubber interests in SE Asia, securing Japan from a dependence on imports. They felt that they had no chance of winning a extended war against the US, but thought neutralising the US Pacific Fleet would discourage US long enough for Japans economic goals to be realised.
Unfortunately for Japan, they missed those pesky US aircraft carriers,
and underestimated FDR's resolve...

Well, any apology would be nice. Ask Allied POW organisations (plenty on the web...). IMO Japanese war criminals got off pretty lightly when you consider the show trials at Nuremburg.
BTW - before anyone accuses me of being a Nazi sympathiser - Goering,
Ribbentrop et al got what they deserved. It's a pity the same level
of prosecution couldn't be brought against their Axis partners.
