Even accounting for NASDAQ's 2 to 1 overstatement...

I have read this statement numerous times but when I watch a low volume stock and buy say 1000 shares, I often (or always?) see the trade incremented by exactly 1000 shares, not 2000 shares. What is the explanation?

I was going to start this post with ***OFF TOPIC*** because today is one of the first times in months that there has been ANY discussion of APM (let it R.I.P).

While I am at it, I saw that Yahoo, at least, lists the closing price of APM as 10 1/8 (down 1 1/4), although the trade that brought it down apparently happened after the market closed and earnings (or lack thereof) were not announced until after 4 PM. Was this the official closing price for APM? What is the policy of the NYSE on "closing price." In theory this could affect the "contest" rules but APM short seems like a pretty good bet for tomorrow unless they have a special 2 for the price of 1 sale for the first person to show up in the morning. Of course that person may lose money by the end of the day. Can a stock be >100% short?

Of course, if APM goes belly up, we will have to move the contest to another site. I know of several virtually unused sites, mostly in the stocks I now hold.

Fortunately my (and AT's) NETA stock came through with 56 cents versus 54 cents predicted today. Several more to report this week.
