Michael Moore has a new documentary film "The Big One". (He is best known for his documentary on General Motors, titled "Roger and Me.") In his latest documentary he discusses how corporations are raking in obscene profits at the expense of the worker.

For example--20% of all American children live in poverty. In 1997, corporate CEO salaries rose 174% and profits are up 250% since 1991. Nike pays Michael Jordan $20 million a year-more than the entire annual payroll of the 30,000 Indonesian factory workers who make the shoes he endorses. THe largest employer in the US is now Manpower Inc., a temporary agency.

He feels the media has neglected the the issues of the ordinary working family. But why?

He was at CNN for an interview and they asked him the same thing. "I said let's just look around the newsroom and ask how many people have logged on to the Internet in the last hour to see how their personal stocks are doing. The problem is that too many people in the media have gone to the party that Wall Street is throwing and are completely out of touch."

How true.
