In fact I think that's been announced (Intel buying into Java), as it has for Sony, and others.

However, to return to the current off-topic, that doesn't help MSFTs case, because all that so far has nothing to do with the desktop market, though Java may next be a monopoly in the computerized device market. That's the OS antitrust case for 2005, potentially: Java and embedded devices. It will be interesting to see Sun try to stay away from the edge MSFT went over.
