Paul M,

A new Medicare commission will have to decide what health coverage the nation can afford - and what it can't - for baby boomers in retirement,

It's at least arguable that the country does not spend an inordinate amount of its GDP on health care. What better use could one put the money to? More litigation? More Federal bureaucrats? More advertising (mostly misleading)? More foreign aid? More corporate welfare? More troops overseas?

Granted much of the health care dollar is wasted on anti-litigation worthless tests.

I submit that we could afford to spend much more of the GDP on truly good and beneficial health care. And on education as well. Let Mr. Greenspan stick to keeping the US dollar worth something.

Just my thoughts on arising this morning for battle HMOs, managed care bureaucrats and Medicare rules which get in the way of taking care of sick people.

Jack
