Cisco is not the biggest and most successful because of product quality - quite the
contrary, their products often come near the bottom rankings in independent laboratory
tests (see Network World for numerous test results).


First your comment is wrong. True there are test where Cisco doesn't score well, but to imply that this is typical is misleading. Furthermore many lab tests are flawed in that they are supported by a sinlge vendor ...that is the test plan is authored by a specific vendor, or products could be mis configured. I would not put much wieght into these lab tests. Rather I would look to customers who bench test (benchmark) competitors in their own labs. If you have access to this data I suspect you'll find that Cisco rates very highly.
