Compaq Computer Corp (CPQ - news) was marked down $3/8 at $24-5/8, while shares in Intel Corp (INTC - news) were indicated $1/2 down at $76. London.

I saw some trades at 78 this morning on fast.quote.com.

I guess it's in anticipation of today's conference.

What's interesting about the article is that this is the same kind of stuff that all of the pundits threw at Microsoft concerning the Internet several years ago. While Microsoft (and Intel) can't see the future, they both seem to be unparalleled in their ability to respond to situations.

In terms of equity markets, the Microsoft situation turned out to be a buying opportunity. I think we're seeing the same with Intel.
