Analytical Surveys Reports Record Second Quarter & Six-Month Results; $28 Million In second quarter Contracts push Backlog to record $99 Million Company Reports Second Quarter Fully Diluted EPS Of 27 Cents On 166% Increase In Net Income And 133% Sales Growth COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Analytical Surveys Inc., (ASI) (Nasdaq: ANLT - news), one of the world's leading providers of computerized mapping and database services for use in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), today reported record results for its second quarter and six-month period ended March 31, 1998. The announcement marked the 18th consecutive quarter ASI has announced record financial results. Net income in the second quarter advanced 166% to $1.8 million, or 27 cents per share fully diluted, compared with net income of $677,000, or 13 cents per share fully diluted, in the same period a year ago. Sales increased 133% to $20.0 million versus sales of $8.6 million in last year's second quarter. Through six months, net income advanced 167% to $3.4 million, or 50 cents per share fully diluted, versus net income of $1.3 million, or 24 cents per share fully diluted, last year. Sales increased 131% to $37.4 million from $16.2 million at the six-month mark a year ago. ASI also announced it received $28 million in second-quarter contracts, a new single-quarter contract record that has pushed ASI's backlog to an all- time high of $99 million. The contracts came both from new customers and previous ASI clients. Included in the contracts were major orders placed by Johnson County, Kansas; Mahoning County, Ohio, and the Grand Valley Metropolitan Council of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
