Yo Wendy, yep I agree this is a very important sector. I have come across two companies involved in blending internet-TV-phone which have intrigued me. 1 mentioned in the article, US West, just came out with a new trial service, TV+internet+phone over copper using a nifty technology called VDSL...the partner that makes the boxes is called Next Level Systems which is now a limited partnership 80% owned by a co. called General Instrument (GIC)...clear as mud right...

A long time ago I also noticed that Jones Intercable, approx. the 10th largest cable provider in the US, was offering a trial cable-over-copper service in Virginia. Interesting, Ma Bell Canada made a big equity investment in Jones, 30% or so... Jones ticker symbol JOIN, there are also preferred shares JOINA....not much chat on this stuff yet but it will come...

Looks like the Bells are testing the waters....look out ISP's...

Another recent announcement for a General Instrument internet box (internet over TV)...reportedly twice the speed of a 56K modem...sounds unimpressive to me but I guess it's good...
