Henry NY Times has an article on the next round of Breast Cancer Tests. This will be Tamoxifen vs Raloxifene. They mention another unnamed drug in the SERM3 family. My question Is this a Ligand drug?

North York, Toronto, has a larger population of Italians than any city in Italy outside of Rome! This population has put enough pressure on the Minister of Health that a "fact finding" mission has been sent to Italy to review these claims for a Cancer Cure.

I wonder how many of you remember Mrs Casse and Esiac, a herbal remedy for Cancer that was used in the Huntsville, Ontario area back in the l930s and 40s. People came from all over North America and even Europe to receive treatment with numberous reports of "Miracle" cures.

This formulation was accepted for clinical trials but these trials were cancelled due to the company not following proper protocols. Essiac was found to have no harmful effects and is still available in Canada without prescription. Cancer victims will take any treatment available especially if it has no harmful side effects! Why not, my own wife drank Essiac along with conventional chemotherapy during her battle with breast cancer as well as mega doses of Vitamin C.

Unfortunately, there is no conspiracy of pharmaceutical companys and the Medical Profession to keep back "cures" or "natural treatments" and virtually all of these discoveries by individual "herbalists" working outside of the mainstream are proven without merit when exposed to scientific research methods!

Fear and Hope are what drives individuals and families faced with Cancer. While I and most other concerned people have "Hope" that current research will develop vastly improved treatment options we do accept that for many types of Cancer the current treatment regimens have not presented many breakthroughs over the past 5 years.

The publicity given to these unorthodox treatments is not altogeather bad in that it does add to the publics awareness of how much additional effort is required to develop bona fide medications and treatment modalities for the numerous forms of cancer present.

JDK, I wonder if Di Bella is using LGND's retinoids? :-)

"Dr. Di Bella became an overnight hero when a nationally broadcast TV talk show devoted an evening last December to his treatment, which involves a combination of melatonin, somatostatin, retinoids and bromocriptine."

Regards,

Walter
