Products, Iomega Announces Letter of Intent for Licensing Agreement With NEC; Japan's Top Computer Manufacturer Expected To Offer Clik! Drives This Year

ROY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 1998--Iomega Corporation
(NYSE:IOM) today announced a letter of intent signed with NEC
Corporation of Japan that, if finalized in a binding agreement, would
grant NEC non-exclusive worldwide rights to manufacture and market
Clik! mobile storage drives to worldwide retail channels and original
equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Under the anticipated license
agreement, NEC would also develop new varieties of Clik! drives.

"NEC currently builds Iomega Zip drives for distributor and OEM
sale, and our relationship with Iomega has allowed us to satisfy our
customers' demands for greater personal computer storage," said Mr.
Tadanobu Furukatsu, vice president and executive general manager, NEC.
"Just as NEC has contributed to the success of Iomega's Zip drive by
increasing its availability, we intend to contribute to the
advancement of Clik! products into the storage market for handheld and
portable computers."

The Clik! drives are designed to provide removable storage via 40
megabyte (MB) Clik! disks and to be an ideal storage companion for
today's portable products, including digital cameras, handheld
personal computers (HPCs) and smart cellular phones. And, with the
potential to connect to virtually any portable digital or desktop
product, customers will be able to easily share information between
products and synchronize with a desktop computer.

"As with Iomega-built Clik! drives and disks, NEC Clik! drives
are expected to be ready to ship to users and manufacturers of digital
cameras and handheld personal computers worldwide during the second
half of 1998," said James C. Kelly, vice president and general manager
of Iomega's Mobile Storage Division. "We expect the widespread
availability of convenient, affordable removable storage to enhance
the growing market for digital cameras and handheld personal
computers."

The Clik! product family is designed to provide consumers with
convenient removable storage, providing them with the ability to store
unlimited near-35mm (megapixel) quality digital pictures without
immediate downloads to a PC, and to enhance the use of pocket versions
of popular desktop applications like Microsoft PowerPoint and
Microsoft Excel on handheld computers.

The mobile (external) and OEM Clik! drives are expected to be
available in the U.S. during the second half of 1998. The mobile drive
is expected to have a suggested U.S. retail price under $200. Clik!
disks are expected to be available in the same time frame for a
suggested U.S. retail price of $9.95.

In a nut shell, what does the Interface Solutions Group press release do for IOM products, besides making them faster? Thought the release was too technical.

I think all the talk about quality assurance for IOM OEM's and customers will pay off big when Clik! is rolled out.
