I find it disturbing that Lexar is winning awards for marketing of their products. The best item I have seen is the CF card that Kodak puts out which has the classic gold background with the unmistakable red logo emblazoned on it. It really looks like digital film from a household name. The Sandisk labelling is pretty plain Jane and I already wrote an e-mail to the marketing people as to how they could improve product visibility. Sandisk is, afterall, the founders of compact flash. I recommended listing on the front of their boxes the systems they are compatible with by displaying the logos of the camera companies using CF. The analogy is looking for the ATM machine that has your bank's logo above it. There is a certain security in that from a consumer standpoint. The reply was that it would be difficult to use another companies logo on your own product packaging (even though you may be riding in on their coattails).

On a related note, I hope that Lexar loses the patent infringement case and has to fork over a percentage of their revenues to SNDK as an award. Maybe someone could inquire about the progress of the suit or the position SNDK has taken. They may have a stock reply that is neutral or they may have valuable insight that they are willing to share.

You all should see the homepage for Lexar with a Kodak DC 210 being outfitted with a Lexar 32 MB CF card. My stomach is churning.
