Re Hitachi cd-rom on Motorola

Linda, my motorola uses a hitachi cd player.

The system7.6 cd I got with the system has the correct driver for the hitachi. I can boot from my original disk, install a base system on my HD, then install software from a HD bott up.

It is no one's fault- not Motorola, not Apple. It is just an inconvenience that I accept for a super price on a slightly uncommon hardware platform. If I was not comfortable with doing oddball installs, it would be a problem for me, Motorola, and Apple.

As I said, this is why Clones can be a real headache.

Richard

(p.s. I know I could replace the drive, but I'll save the loot towards a new system. Then I can do network installs!)
